Volunteering Volunteer for us: INS welcomes anybody who is willing to offer their skills and some of their time to assist us in all areas of our work. Almost anyone can be a volunteer. We already have a team of invaluable volunteers who help us in many ways but we are always looking for more support. The benefits of volunteering include meeting people and making new friends, learning new skills and being able to give something back to the local community. We have a wide range of roles which suit different people and different skills. All you need is a genuine liking for people, empathy, patience, a warm personality and a few hours a week to spare. Helping in the office:We have volunteers who help with the office administration, and we are keen to recruit additional, regular support from people with good IT and office skills to help our office administration team.. Information Technology: We need experienced people to help us with a wide range of IT issues, including: desktop publishing; setting up online databases; streamlining systems; creating a picture library; archiving. Supporting out work with clients and carers:We have volunteers who help run groups and activities for our clients under the guidance and supervision of our paid staff. We are always looking for more support especially from people who can their experience, personal skills and expertise for the benefit of clients at INS in areas such as gardening, or music appreciation. Befriending: As a Befriender you would be asked to visit someone who would welcome regular visits, or who might need help to get out and about – shopping, a trip to the cinema or whatever. Your visit might also provide an opportunity for the family carer to take a well-deserved break from their caring role.
