Your journey with us

How do I get referred?

Anyone can refer you, or you can refer yourself. Please Click here to download a referral form.

You can send it to us by post, or e-mail it to us at: [email protected]

You can also refer yourself by phone - 020 8755 4000.

What happens next?

Once your referral is accepted we will contact you and arrange a convenient time for you to attend INS for an initial assessment. We will discuss with you how INS can help you.

And then?

The relevant therapists will book a convenient time slot with you to discuss your needs in more detail. They may suggest seeing you individually for a series of therapy sessions, or they may suggest you attend a suitable therapy group.

How long will all this take?

Waiting times do vary. A therapist will contact you within 5 working days from receiving your referral form.

Groups and activities

INS offers a variety of long term and short term groups. Some of these groups are for people with a specific neurological condition, while others are open to all neurological conditions. Our groups focus on different areas; some are exercise based, others focus on managing symptoms, while others provide you with an opportunity to try out different activities. Please click here for more information about our current virtual groups via videolink.

What ongoing support will I receive?

All INS clients are allocated a member of staff who is their key point of contact.  This member of staff will keep in regular touch with you.  In addition, your Key Worker will contact you throughout the year to see how things are going.  We will also send you regular updates on groups and activities.  You may contact us at any time if you feel you need further support.

With your agreement, we may also suggest you get involved with activities in your local community.

Where do sessions take place?

In normal times, most groups are run at our Twickenham premises at 82 Hampton Road, TW2 5QS. There are some groups at other venues in the community. Individual therapy sessions will take place either at your home or at our Twickenham premises. Please note that all current groups are being provided by Zoom videolink.

Will I need to pay?

Following the suspension of face-to-face services in March 2020, we provided virtual sessions at no fee to clients. Having reviewed our charging policy, we plan to re-introduce fees for therapy groups (and also for one-to-one services) in November 2020, and are contacting our service users about these changes. Most 'Zoom' groups cost £50 for a block of 8 sessions. We will be asking those attending other groups (including Expanding Horizons) to make a suggested donation.

In normal times, one-to-one therapy is charged at £30 per session and counselling is £20 per session. We will shortly be re-introducing similar fees for our virtual one-to-one services delivered by phone and videolink (limited face-to-face may also be available).

There is no charge for initial assessments. Other support services for carers are also provided at no fee.

Contact us for more information about charging by telephoning 020 8755 4000 or by emailing [email protected]).

Do you have links to other organisations?

We have links with other community health and social care services, and may refer you to them as appropriate and with your agreement.

Will you contact my GP?

We will contact your GP after you have been seen by a member of INS staff for the first time. This is to let him/her know that you are known to our organisation and that we will be supporting you.

  • What is a neurological condition?

A neurological condition is a disease, illness or trauma that affects the central or peripheral nervous system. Examples of symptoms include paralysis, tremor, cognitive difficulties, muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, pain and altered levels of consciousness.

  • Where we work

Integrated Neurological Services (INS) provides support primarily to people who live in the London boroughs of Richmond and Hounslow. However, we may still be able to offer support to people living just outside this area (eg. in Kingston, Wandsworth, Ealing) who are within reach of our base in Twickenham.

  • What difference we make

INS can be the difference between living and just existing.

  • Donate

Your donation can make a difference to the lives of people with a neurological condition. Donate, hold an event, take part in a challenge - whatever you can do will make a difference.

  • Working for INS

  • History of INS

INS is the only organisation in the London area offering long term, professional rehabilitation and support for people with neurological conditions, through its experienced team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and social workers.

  • Partnering with us

Partnerships - INS cannot do its work alone. The best possible outcomes for our clients can be most effectively achieved from a joined-up approach that utilises the resources from a wide range of providers, both statutory and voluntary.

  • Why we do what we do

At INS we believe that a long-term neurological condition requires a long-term approach. We believe that this should include support for carers and focus on ability not disability. this with your content

  • Volunteering

    Volunteering

INS welcomes anybody who is willing to offer their skills and some of their time to assist us in all areas of our work. Almost anyone can be a volunteer. We already have a team of invaluable volunteers who help us in many ways but we are always looking for more support.
